Why am I being charged so much to cancel my car insurance with admiral? I thought there was just a standard cancellation fee?

My insurance policy is due to run out in October but I have been quoted a lower price elsewhere (over £50 per month less!) so want to cancel now. Admiral have said they're gonna charge me for all the days left in my policy plus 2 lots of admin charges! The total is just under £260! Can they do this? I thought there was just a standard cancellation fee!

  • Hi Chloe,

    Thanks for posting.

If you would like to cancel your Admiral insurance policy, then you will be charged for the days that Admiral has insured your car (from the policy start date to the date that you decide to cancel the policy), along with their standard cancellation fee.

However, if a claim has been made on the policy, and it has been deemed as a fault claim, or still on-going, then the full premium would be retained by Admiral.

If you are unhappy with the cancellation fees applied, I'm afraid that you would need to contact Admiral directly. You can contact Admiral on 0871 882 0000. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this causes.
