ONE CALL INSURANCE !!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T USE THIS COMPANY

I'm not sure if One Call Insurance can still provide quotes through Confused.com but if they do, please, please find out all you can by looking at reviews about this company. I have reported them because of misselling. I took up insurance online but then received a letter saying my bank details were incorrect so they would not insure me. They had already taken a one-off payment to start the insurance as they do. I tried to contact them with my details to see where the mistake had been but I could never speak to anyone. I then got through to cancellations! That's a laugh. How can you cancel somthing that has never started? I spoke to Lucy who told me I had to return my documents to cancel. I had never received documents. The only communication I ever received were threatening and abusive letters telling me I was driving without insurance and would be fined or imprisoned. (I had insured with another company in the meantime) I even started to return their mail with warnings on the envelope so anyone handling the mail would know not to touch them. I sent proof of my insurance with another company by recorded delivery and their letters stopped. However, now, one month later they have taken money from my account using the account number I gave them to take my first payment. They never set up insurance cover for me saying my banking details were wrong. The fraud department of my bank are now investigating. Please read the reviews of the company. Over 95% of customers say the same thing "Don't touch this company!" Please Confused.com don't risk your own reputation by allowing this company to use your site to defraud your customers!

    • Wish I had read this yesterday and I wouldn't have been conned myself. I have found ONE CALL Insurance Services to be liars and con artists. I am working my way up to the insurance ombudsman I want my money back
    • Please if you have any sense DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
They are 100% rip off they will just take all your money for such a bad service.
They tried to increase my insurance by £240 for a claim i forgot to let them know about and i accept they had to load my policy for a claim, but when i did a new quote with the claim it came out over £200 cheaper
so how can they justify the £240 loading to make the cost £515 for the year and if i did a new policy it was £315
So i could not afford the new policy with the loading so i had to cancell it and then this rip off company charged me £80 for 6 days cover
The staff just read of a script and do not care at all about customer service they are just told to rip the uk public off and they do a fantastic job at this

  • melanie blayze if you had bothered to read what people say you would have read that is exactly what i was saying ,why post same message to everyone
,employed by one call perhaps not happy with what people are saying about one call . .maybe if one call behaved better there wouldn't be any complaints .the idea of putting your experiences on line is to help others decide whether they wish to use the product . I have had an awful experience with one call and got a result because i know the process not everyone does .For those that are unable to fight there corner one call is the last insurance company i would reccommend

  • Ok, heres what happened with me, i had one call, then the asked for more money i cancelled after a wek, they wanted 270 quid cancellation, i told them no, then they dropped to 175, i said no, i then had a letter asking for 115, i phoned and (taking the piss) i said i would pay them a fiver a month, they said ok lol, also they would set up the DD to collect the 5 a month, they didnt, however i visited my local branch and had a clean out of all unused DD including one call, this was 6 or 8 weeks ago, on friday i noticed one call had taken 175 out my bank !!, i phoned nat west tonight and they said it was an unauthorised transaction that was taken from my debit card details and somehow it was flagged as open to take more payments, my nice bank have retrieved the money and put it back into my account and put a warning on one call to stop any payments.....complete arseoles

    • unbelievable im having all the exact same problems. trouble is they probably only hire people who play up to there scam, i cant get any reasoning from any one iv spoken to,
charging money after cancelling,so far its cost me £106 to cancel on less than a weeks cover.
we need to get them on the telly!
    • I was only thinking that yesterday. I'm still waiting for a decision from the Ombudsman as to whether they pay me £200 instead of the £100 offered as they agreed my case was true. This doesn't even being to cover the cost of my phone calls and emails and time let alone the repairs that haven't been done!!
How do we get them answerable to us all?????

Poor customer service and intolerable wait if you have to telephone them.

Watch out -for their automatic renewal, they wont let you opt out until you receive their letter a few days before renewal, I informed them 3 months previous that I didn't want to renew. Hey they tried to renew. Shoddy business practices - watch out for these sharp practices. Also - haven't got a complaints department you can email or telephone - you have to use snail mail.

All in all they do not look after you as a customer - SYSTEM SAYS NO !

  • I’m Irritated beyond belief
Definitely watch out for this company. They have some of the most unreasonable charges for policy cancellation that I have ever come across in any walk of life. There are dodgy reviews about them all over parts of the web - for a relatively small company, this is quite an achievement in such a small space of time! I usually hunt around for reviews before I buy but I was in a real hurry and I also purchased very late at night. How I regret that decision! More fool me! Regrettably, they now have my business for the next year. After that, I will never touch them again - ever! It would not surprise me to find next year that they will make it difficult to avoid an automatic renewal (reviews say this in many places) and it would certainly not surprise me if they survive by having lots of customers for one year but with few who will renew with them year upon year. In short, stay well away and do yourself a favour and use a well known company, even if they are a few quid more expensive.

They are so bad i will never go near these again. I received a letter from them saying they received all my details and I didn't have to do anything more then they contacted me to change some details so they could get a couple of £ more from me, then after the cooling of period they canceled my insurance and said it was because they couldn't get hold of my NCB from my last insurance company and couldn't contact me for me to get i, so because they couldn't get it they canceled the policy and then charged me the entire amount of the policy for cancelation. i got my no claims from my last insurer and sent it to them with a copy of the letter showing they had told me they had got all my forms and didn't have to do anything, they just said well its too late now its canceled and then passed it on to THIER OWN DEBT COLECTORS who are threatening me with court. but i think I'm in the right not to pay the full amount of the policy after they canceled it after 2 weeks, not me.

I even said i think that they may have done this before because it was so perfect that they canceled it after the cooling off period.

absolute joke DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A DIRTY STICK.

One Call Are The Biggest Criminal Company I Have ever dealt with I cancelled A Policy With Them 5 years Ago They said I Still have To Pay The Last Installment Of £17.99
So I rang One Call And Told Them They Would Not Get The £17.99 Because Close Finance Also Wanted The £ 17.99
By The Way Close Finance Is One Call Insurance As is OCDR A Debt Company Which All Operate From The Same Building In Doncaster On Black Carr.
So I told them to sort out who was having the payment , they put the phone down on me .
So I rang Close Finance and said the same to them they put the phone down on me (actually it sounded like the same person I had previously spoken too).
So I didnt bother anymore .
5 Years Later I am Still Getting Letters Threatening Me with Court action For Non Payment Of !!!!! £179.90 , But I Do not Just Get This From One Call But Also From Close Finance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      So Guess What
      They Are Getting Nothing

  • well i have tried to complain about the length of time i have waited for them to authorise repairs to my car, I have had to phone every day for a month to no avail, My garage has had no contact from one call repairs in this time, i have had to contact them,
One call said they had emailed the garage to ask for photos twice but they had not, They refused to phone the garage as they said they did not have time to phone them all day, I did point out that they had neither phoned nor emailed them to ask for information at all . I have asked on 4 different occasions to be passed to there complaints department but was refused each time, I have tried to complain directly through one call customer care but they can't pass me to there complaints department either . They have said i have to pay the £240. 00 labour costs my garage is charging as there garage is cheaper. how can there garage be cheaper than £240. for 4 hors work , that includes vat and all costs after parts. I have now got to go to all the trouble of going to the ombudsman as they are refusing me a complaint procedure. My garage is happy to back me up , and i believe this is all because i would not allow them to drag my car from Dorset to Reading for repairs. I am disabled and i need my car, i have now been trapped in the house for a month. I do not recommend this insurance company and advise you not to have an accident or make a claim.
    • write directly to the complaints handling department at First point ,and telephone the financial ombudsman if their claims handling dept commercial legal are involved they are the responsibility of the legal ombudsman , I complained to both ombudsmans and got a result The garages are as you may have guessed owned by one call itself. the garages also handle breakdowns and vehicle hire, when you contact one call you are talking to their call centre call

I compare insurance prices every year via confused.com. And was silly enough to come acoss ONeCall. Not only that but funnily enough the way their site is set up it requires your debit card details before you can actually read some extra info on the policy you are planning to take out. But you relax because you have not pressed the payment confirmation button. You are wrong here. You will get an email, saying that you requested a quote and they check your details and if everything is fine, they will collect the money from you account. This is what happened to me. AFter receiving the latter email, I phoned them to tell them that I actually did not buy their insurance. They stated I did and I can only pull out of the insurance if I cancel it, which would cost me Ł 47!!!! This is on the day when the policy is due to start. And the whole policy for the whole year cost 167!!!! No threataning to going to financial Ombudsman moves them, neither the reminder of distang selling regulations or the name CAB. They say that this is due to one call being an insurance broker and they actually selling the products of an insurer and they want to cover their costs. And the story is not over yet. If you decide to take a business insurance on the top of your "forced-into-existing insurance" they want to cahrge you an extra Ł39! This is free with most insurance companies, or the ones I have come across so far. And now the punch line: you get a free breakdown assistance with your insurance, but!!! every call you make will cost you Ł20!!!! how can this company still exist?????

The so-called free breakdown cover has large limits. we hit a curb and punctured both front and back tyres, phoned my free breakdown cover from 1 call , oh no if it was the engine or something like that we could be towed to the nearest garage to where we broke down, but not for tyres !! so we had to pay £240. to be bought home, I had to claim as the damage turned out to be to the steering too, that was 4 weeks it took them just to sort out with my garage to ok the claim of £700. I could never recommend this company they are a nightmare to say the least. I had to sort things out with them and the garage they never even contacted my garage, the reason being i would not allow them to tow my car to reading from Dorset to be fixed. Turned out they were not cheaper either.

  • Unauthorised payment from my CREDIT CARD....total crooks !!!!!!

Never come across this ever don't even know how they are allowed to get money the way they did. Had a car policy Sept 2015 , sold car April 2016 so cancelled the policy and the DD. They wanted £66 to cancel which I paid over the phone using my credit card and the payment went through. The card expired 30thJune 2016 but this month a payment showed on my statement to Onecall. When I called them ( 25 mins wait to get through ) they said they had stored my card details and the payment was a mistake which is being refunded today ( 11 days after they took it ). It seems companies can charge your card remotely without an expiry date or giving the CCV number on the back of the card. When I told Onecall the card was now expired they said the refund would bounce back if the expiry date was incorrect. I find the whole procedure open to fraud that companies or certainly Onecall can take money from your credit card even though 7 months on I have no policy with them and card details had expired with my latest card also having a different CCV.
I will think twice now before giving any company my credit details. Its a good job a check every transaction each month when my statement comes through.

There was no way to stop them and no way to get it back. Being on benefits this incurred me a lot of charges. It's beyond belief that a company can legally rip you off. I have no faith in the comparison sites and will not be using them again.
You are supposed to be able to trust the companies they bring up , but we have all proved you can't. I wonder how much gocompare gets out of this illegal company?

    • Thanks Ray. Going to write to the ombudsman now. They've stolen 90 minutes of my life, made my blood boil and stolen money from me without giving me any notification. First they said they'd mailed me my policy renewal notice. Then they said they'd emailed me. When I asked for proof of the email, they admitted they'd done neither. A week later I was back on the phone to them.... Stay well clear of "One Call".
    • Great advice, my wife went online to get quotes for me, saw this on comparison site, and put all details except drivers licence and NI and who asks for NI, she put her card details through and then saw all the extras, that is a con, The email stated "intent to purchase" and as the policy would not kick in until 9 days I rung to cancel, and was told £50 charge, we argued the case as they did not have all the details and they were charging for something that was not kicking in until 28th march, and that I already had an insurance policy until then and that it is illegal to have 2 policies. They would not budge, a above roughly 90 mins on the phone 60 of that trying to get through and am being charged. disgraceful company If the charge goes through then I will complain to the ombudsman.
      STAY AWAY from this company

  • I’m Furious and Frustrated
THIS COMPANY SHOULD NEVER BE TRADING - Please post on as many social media websites to spread the word to as many people as you can to completely boycott this company. DO NOT give them bank, credit or debit card details. I have been complaining to them for over 3 years now and still get a letter like clockwork every 3 weeks or so as they refuse to wipe out a debt I do not owe. I took out car insurance with them and cancelled within the cooling off period as my car developed a serious engine failure that could not be repaired, however, they completely ignored this and have still been chasing me for the money I DO NOT OWE. I am also furious by the amount of letters each month and the damage this company does to the environment with the amount of paper it uses to chase customers. In fact, the amount of money they are chasing me for has probably been negated in postal / franking charges to send me the letter. Complete fools. These are a totally shoddy, unprofessional bunch of cowboys, who pay no attention to you upon contacting them and cannot be bothered with what you have to say. So OCDR .. Keep sending the letters and i'll keep shredding them .. wiping the tears from my eyes for the damage you do to our planet with the shredded remains.

  • One Call Insurance, One Call Debt Recovery, One BIG CON

After taking out insurance on a previous property the insurance then got flipped over to my new home (owned by my partner) when I updated my contact details. Then when I sold my previous property I called them to cancel, only to find out that the property I intended the insurance for was NOT COVERED! So lucky I didn’t need to make a claim, I tried to get my money back as they messed up and insured the wrong property, but they said I could only get my money back if I could prove that ‘I’ had the property insured elsewhere. I said that ‘I’ didn’t but my partner did, which wasn’t acceptable to them as it wasn’t myself insuring it. So I at least cancelled the insurance and was told that the balance would be taken straight away, I thought at least I’m done with them, never to use One Call Insurance ever again. New year came and I got a text message demanding me to call them immediately in regards to their letter (yet no letter received). Two days later I got a letter from One Call Debt Recovery saying I owed them the balance and an additional £25.00. I bet I’m not the only one to be passed round the company like this to squeeze further cash out of people just like a con man would, though most conmen don’t sit behind a computer. In my opinion I would stay clear of and be VERY wary before using this company and where possible AVOID them. After calling them up following this letter I’m now finally through with them, never to use them or any of the various names they disguise them selves as like ‘One Call Insurance’, ‘One Call Debt Recovery’, ‘One Call Direct’, ‘One Call Insurance Services Limited’, ‘One Call Estates Limited’, ‘One Call Mortgage Hub Limited’,

  • Stole money out of my account. To my horror I went to the petrol station this morning and went to pay for the petrol I put in. Only for my card to be rejected. When I checked One call despite me cancelling the insurance over the phone and by letter. They had took out £86.72p. Leaving me unable to pay for my petrol and get to work some 40 miles away resulting in a days loss of pay and incurring charges at the bank for being overdrawn. When I phoned one call and got through to a customer service rep called Jack ( robot i think ) he would only say that I had not cancelled my policy time after time. He would not give his surname and would not put a manger on.One call had not received my letter surprise surprise !!!.my questions that Jack the robot could not answer was . If I had cancelled my direct debit the why take the money of my card in the middle of the month and not when my cancelled direct debit was due. I had also not declared my convictions which by One calls own policies and procedures makes my policy null and void so why steal money of me. I have been to the bank and they state the what One call have done is a Recurring transaction not authorised. I will not let this matter rest until I get my money back with compensation and looking at all the comments regarding One call please please do not use.

Time wasters. Received call, they were annoyingly offering reduce my excess for £100 pound extra. Refused to pay. Couple days later they tried to add charge of £140,- for not given no claim bonus proof, which they didn't asked for, no letters or emails asking any paperwork. Then they asked my additional car no claim bonus proof for some reason. Complete mess. couple hours spent resolving things. Now they asking my driving license details... Nightmare. Would like cancel and reinsure with proper company.

  • I’m sad
I took insurance with this company last week. I forgot that my wife had a small bump in 2015 in her car, I take full responsibility for not declaring this when I took the insurance from one call. I then receive a letter saying that my premium has doubled and they have also charged me £39.99 fee for this change. I called to check this as it seemed to be a massive increase, Jody explained that it was correct. I said I would like to cancel under the 14 day cooling off period thats in the terms and conditions. I was told it is another fee £49.99 and £34.78 on cover fee so I have to pay them a further £62.10 to cancel the cover. I will pay this to them but I promise I have learnt a massive lesson from this experience. I also told Jody that I remove the permission to continue to charge my card ( you must remove this permission as they can still take money when they want). One call will get the £62.10 from me but I promise one thing. I will always do a review search when taking insurance and I will never have any further dealing with any business that has any connection with the one call business. I also learnt that cheap is not always best. some of the charges are £39.99 amendment fee and thats for any changes to your policy, £49.99 to cancel a new policy. be very very careful when accepting any policy from this company as I didn't get the terms and conditions booklet until after I had agreed to the policy !!!

    • Well, I did it. I called the number above and spoke to Luke. Luke sounded a bit surprised and said " you were told to call this number" I said yes and read the above reply. I also read my feed back comment to Luke who asked me what I wanted then ??? so I explained I had done what the message said and called the number so that we could come to a resolution, your policy is cancelled he said, Luke kindly emailed me what he called a landing page that explains the terms and condition to me prior to accepting the policy. In fact what Luke sent me is indeed a landing page ( or for me and you the page before you accept the quote with the price and payment options on) and to the right with a big red circle around it and a big red arrow pointing to it is a small box in between the Reviews.co.uk box and the policy benefits box called "important information". This is the box that everyone should read before agreeing to the insurance policy as all the terms and conditions are there as well as all the fees and charges. I obviously agreed to this as I had no idea it was there and one call know this as the landing page they send to me is marked with a big red circle around it and a big red arrow pointing to it to make it stand out and become very obvious. So I would like to send you the money by back payment as I cannot trust your company with my card details so will have to wait for you to write to me now as Luke said you don't have any bank details that I can transfer to !!! Now also as I have been looking to insure my van, I find you have the same policy with the same benefits for only £327 on a van insurance site. How did my policy double in price then ? any way we could go round and round here, My advice is sty away, don't touch them, don't insure with them and don't forget to read the little bit to the right hand side that says " IMPORTANT INFORMATION".

  • DO NOT USE ONECALL CAR INSURANCE, DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR DEBIT CARD DETAILS!!!!
I took out a policy and paid my deposit from a debit card and provided all the information they needed straight away, including my proof of no claims. I went to download to app that's part of the insurance policy from play store, and apparently the app is 'not compatible' with my smart phone, bearing in mind I uses google maps as a sat-nav, and all the other usual apps like Facebook, Messenger, Skype, Gmail, most of whom can track your location, and all these work perfectly, I was sure it's a problem with Onecall's app. I kept getting email's from Onecall telling me to download the app, and I replied asking what I should do (the email had no phone number on it, and it said contact us directly, so by email?). After a week I got an email with a bill on it for an extra £129, which said would be taken from my account using, quote 'your debit card details which we have stored on our system'. I was furious, so I returned an email to this one and someone replied! I was surprised! but they bluntly told me MY PHONE WAS INCOMPATIBLE! and therefore not suitable for the policy, and It would be 'downgraded', which means the policy would now cost more, and I would still have to pay the extra £129! Unbelievable! So the company is a scam, they don't reply to your contacts when their app doesn't work, then they will try and make you pay more and deduct it directly from your account. I cancelled my card straight away, got a new one sent, and cancelled the direct debit. I called my bank to let them know there is a problem with Onecall. So I will lose my £43 deposit to this company, but I have kept my account safe. All I can say is DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CARD DETAILS!

  • I have made the greatest mistake of my life joining this bad company.
Been with them for two weeks, locked my key in the car, called breakdown and the lady said it would cost £20 for call out. After taking the £20, she called back to say it is now £75 so she needs to £55 extra but said she can't guarantee that they will get the key. Told her to forget the whole thing but she insisted that £20 can't be refunded.
Next day received a letter for £39 administration fee for not disclosing an accident. Called them to say I disclosed all on Comparison website. Lady was very rude and unwilling to help.
I hope no further surprises. Will definitely not be renewing with this "No call" and will never recommend.

I don't know where they get there staff from, but they all seem to be programmed with the same answers when you call. They will find ways to take money from you until you stop your card. I have had to take insurance with them for my new car as I stood to lose to much by cancelling them. I can't wait until my insurance comes up for renewal so I can rid myself from this evil company. I have never been so scared of a company having my card details till this one. Over £200 they took out of my account for reasons that were not valid and nothing I could do about it.
I have had to keep my card with only the minimum of money I need on it as I don't trust this company to come up with new charges they have invented.
They would charge you for the air you breath if they had the chance .....

  • One Call Insurance

This company deducted £565 from my account when i applied to purchase a policy from them and failed to grant me cover and their customer service were arrogant on the phone and not friendly. I request they refund my money immediately so i can purchase with another company but they said i have to wait for 3-5days before i can get it meaning i can't purchase elsewhere until i get my money back from them. They wont even apologize for this as well.
    Bad Bad Bad!!!

  • I’m frustrated annoyed fed up
terrible company that use multi agents on their behalf. Passed from pillar to post and the customer service cant access any info from the claims department etc.
My car was written off no fault of my own. the other party admited liability. I was passed about between 3 seperate companys and finally got a hire car after a month. i was paid out a value for my car but this was not updated on my file. They told me to sorn my car and transfer it into another company name. The car is now out of tax mot, and insurence and is still sat in the street 4 months on!!! (not in my name thank goodness)

I had a verbal agreement that the remaining premium for the insurence would be claimed from the other party. Instead i keep recieving threatening letters for the ammount. They have decided to go back on their word on this.

Also the scrap value of the car 198 pounds can not be paid until the case is closed. I have several emails from various employees saying they will contact me but this never happens. So im 200 pounds out of pocket and getting billed for 77 pounds.

Worst experience of insurence ive ever had with the worst customer service and staff that are totally inept and tell lies just to tickle your ears. Ive called and called customer service but they cant help as its a claims issue not their problem was the exact words of rebecca in the service team.

    Joke firm please avoid.

  • I’m frustrated
Ive had a similar terrible experience with this company. They basically cancelled my insurance without telling me - I was still paying to their finance company Close Brothers - and as a consequence was driving for 3 months without insurance (unbeknownst to myself) !

When I found out I phoned and demanded a reimbursement of my costs for the months I was paying them - they agreed - waited a few months and got another letter from them stating they needed me to provide the return of the premium form from my insurance company (which they never provided to me) and surrender of my Certificate of Insurance (which they sent me in an email)

Basically any prevarication to avoid return of monies owed to me

    Ive still not received anything
    • I've got about 6 emails saying they will call me tomorrow. But obviously that doesn't happen. They deal with too many 3rd parties. I dealt with 3 hire car companies and 2 loss adjusters. All changing without notification to myself.

My last email saying I'll be in touch tomorrow was on Monday but guess what?

My advice through an ongoing experience is avoid these like the plague
    • I have had exactly the same problem with this company, they have tried to charge me a cancellation fee of £262.73 after having one month of cover with them. I cancelled after establishing what was offered in the quote wasn't what I was receiving, they then proceeded to take money out of my bank which nationwide returned to me after I advised I did not authorise them to do so. I have now received threatening letters advising that they will take me to court or attach to my earnings, I panicked and have made payments equating to £55.73 so far but do I pay anymore or not? I have emailed their complaints department and am waiting on a response.

  • I’m Angry beyond belief
    One Call are Con artists!

I was insured through One Call Insurance. I had an accident on the 1st of December 2016. It wasnt my fault, cars computer determind my speed and from the photos it was obvious the other driver was at fault, It was icy, he was going to hard around a blind bend, i was doing 12.8 mph coming the opposite direction, i saw him at the last minute and managed to swerve my car half off the road, he hit the front drivers wing and slid along the side of my car (audi estate), damaging wing, drivers door, passenger door and rear 1/4 panel.

I havd no other witnesses, depsite photos of his skid marks, the position of both cars and the road conditions plus details from my trip cmputer it was still settled 50/50. so after 3 weeks back and forth on the phone trying to get the claim settled so i can get my car sorted (20 month old and a pregnant wife) eventually they agree to let me get an estimate from my local garage, which my family has used for years. More phone conversations ( in total 6.4 hours at around £230.00!) my wife goes it to labour, after a week in hospital, I call them to find out when the car will get repaired and they havent even looked at the claim, then their engineer takes several weeks to get the information he needs, even though my garage offered all the necessary details on day one. Labour rates etc.. today im eventually given the costings and they are saying my garage is charging £495 more than there estimate, ther labour costs are £27.50! yeah in 1991! So i have no choice to go with their approved service, or Pay an additional £720 in costs and excess at £250 even thouygh with a 50/50 you should only be paying half the excess!
Today ive been told theres a que system for the approved repairer and my is at the end of the que! What a F'in joke!
This case is going to be refered to their complaints, which i assume nothing will be done, then onto the ombudsman service and also contacting Citizens Advice.

DO NOT USE ONE CALL !!

  • I’m Angry
Very angry with this company, my wife went online looking for my car insurance
She did enter most details but not my drivers licence or NI details,
She did put HER card details in, and after the card was entered then came all the extras conviently after the card went through

I came home and was not happy so we rung. It took over 1 hr to get through and when we did was told there would be a charge of just under £50 for a service I have not received and as the policy would not start for another 9 days, then I would never receive, and how can you charge for an incomplete policy.
The email states an “intention”, not that we have purchased . I already have insurance until 28th March and it is illegal for any person to have 2 policies so you are charging for something I will never have

You said you are a broker and that gives you the right to make a charge, that is just a con.

I have since read reviews and they do not make pretty reading. And to be honest unless you can tell me you will not charge me for something I have not had then I will go to the ombudsman, I do not mean that as a threat, just a fact.
I do not want them to take £50 out for nothing and no service except a confirmation email of intent to purchase,

  • DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
How does this company get away with the charges it puts on peoples accounts,
I set up insurance with this company in 2015, I cancelled the insurance after 1 month as they initially accepted my partner to be a second driver then a month later wrote to me telling me they couldn't insure him. my initial policy for my car was £455
they have now billed me for the remainder of the policy and their charges

    £300 for remainder of policy
    £50 for added protection
    £5.99 Broker Fee
    £55.99 cancellation fee
they also have applied their debt recovery charges of £104 as I am refusing to pay them any further money, due to them not insuring what I initially asked for.

total bill for cancelation £515.98 for one months insurance, £60 more than the full years insurance. Needless to say they wont be getting a penny from me. I paid £155 upfront on taking the insurance out.

absolute bag of shit company whom I will spread the word around not to touch with a barge pole, unless its to wrap around someone neck!!!!!

  • DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I have cancelled my policy six months in, and paying on a monthly direct debit. When I cancelled the policy I was up to date with my payments so though that the policy would just end. They have now advised that I as I had taken out windscreen cover for a year, the full year has to be paid and I still owe them £96. Despite cancelling the Direct Debit with them, they then attempted to take the money out of my card. Luckily my account had no money in it so they couldn't take it. They then proceeded to set up another Direct Debit without my authorisation and attempted to take the money that way - how can anyone set up a Direct Debit with a customer's authorisation?! I then cancelled that Direct Debit also and they have today taken £96 off my card today! They are absolutely the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my 28 years of driving and I have never ever had this treatment or had any insurance company take payment with out my authorisation. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!

  • I’m frustrated
I am struggling to get a courtesy car From this company. The garage have collected my excess of £150.00. They were to give me an automatic courtesy car but they brought a manual one because they said i have a normal UK licence. My vehicle I insured was automotive and i spoke to them that i cannot drive manual at the moment due to a shoulder pain which was explained to the company when i took out the policy. They have taken my excess and refused to refund it back. My car is still on my drive, not been repaired but they have got the policy excess in advance. I have never known of any company so unhelpful. Despite all the extra added to my premium I haven't got a car. They kept giving me different numbers to call. Since 9.15 am i have spoken to several people and no help. No empathy at all. I'm so disappointed. They would not change the garage either no let me use by garage. I am told if i hire an automatic car they will not pay for it.

  • I went with One Call and after 2 weeks past the cancellation time, they cancelled my insurance because they couldn't get hold of my no claims from last insurer. They then charged me the whole amount of the policy as a cancellation fee. I got hold of the no claims and sent it to them and they said they can't accept it if me they had to get it of them. This was after I got an email of them saying all was ok and I didn't need to do anything. After they cancelled it I refused to pay the full amount of the policy and they then used their own One call debt collection agency and their own One call solicitors to try and get it even though I proved my no claims and tebemaul saying all was ok. I was willing to go to court with it. Unfortunately I ended up getting a Debt Relief Order and it was cancelled out but they then still even sent me letters demanding payment so I threatened to send the letters to the insolvency agency after that yet emailed me to say they had cancelled the debt. These are constantly ripping people off. I suspected and even hinted to them that I think they cancel people's policy after the cool off period on purpose.

Omg.......I thought I was on my own battling this excuse of a company. I'm going to send this link through to the Ombudsman as, although they ruled in my favour, I was only offered £100....didn't cover my costs of phoning, emailing and chasing constantly let alone the stress caused. Added to which, my car, which was involved in a non fault accident, still hasn't been repaired as I didn't want to use their garages which they were trying to force me to do- I didn't realise they owned them. The lies I have been told by this company are incredible.....lack of communication and information.....I also emailed Nik Springthorpe but got nothing back!! Why do the Ombudsman not close this company down???? The Ombudsman got no evidence provided from One Call which I find incredible....I have reams of information but am still fighting to get a better result.

I took out insurance yesterday at noon with One Call, paid in full, received their documents on line at tea time, spent a good hour reading them and was astonished by all the Caveats additIonal charges and conditions, which they claim you can access and read before you take out a policy. So unhappy with this I cancelled this morning bearing in mind my cover doesn't start for another 17 days and have been charge £49.99 cancellation charge for the privilege! My advice to anyone thinking of using OneCall is DONT, DONT, DONT!! IT'S VERY SHORTSIGHTED OF THEM AS I WILL RELAY THIS STORY TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS I KNOW AND IT WILL BE GOING ON FACEBOOK.

  • I’m NOT HAPPY
There is another one called Go Skippy, based in Africa. BIG SCAM! I had a problem with both. the reason they are canceling your insurance is because it makes your premium higher!
they make out they had a problem & had to cancel it & give a new quote based on the new premium! ONE CALL refused insurance and then tried to take the money! when I asked wth they were doing they said they refused because they needed more information! NORMAL.... Not SCAM insurance companies DO NOT refuse then ask for more information! CLEVER! one call.... just as with Go Skippy! Refuse insurance & give a new quote based on the new premium because you have been refused! BOTH these companies need to be shut down! My sons money is still being held by paypal for the deposit they are trying to take for his REFUSED application as they called it. GO SKIPPY & ONE ARE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE! Always someone trying to scam & abuse the system
All who have had dealings with them GOOD LUCK with your NEW PREMIUM for the next 5 years
